On To New Beginnings .....

March 2020

I cannot believe it has been so long since I updated this blog.
And such a lot has happened - so many changes for us. I will try to be brief though.

Grace and Cal welcomed a gorgeous little girl into their family on August 4th - and yes, we are absolutely besotted - Hazel Elaine Perry is delightful. Now we are the very proud grandparents of Lilly and Hazel with hopefully more grandchildren to follow these two.

We decided to sell SOL. The last few months Jamie's knees had been giving him a lot of trouble and so we needed to sort them out. Lazing around on SOL was not making them any better and he wasn't really sure how much longer he would be able to sail with the pain and discomfort.

We had a buyer within a week of advertising her, and so the deal was done. The money in the bank. Our personal effects packed, and we were homeless.

Leaving her was sad, very sad, extremely sad. But we knew it was the right decision and the right time.

Problem - what to do now, and where???

We loved the weather in northern New South Wales, we loved the land around the Adelaide Hills in South Australia, we loved New Zealand, we also felt north eastern Victoria was a very big possibility - HELP !!

So we took a trip to New Zealand, looking around north of Auckland to Doubtless Bay - interesting, but nothing grabbed us. Back to Australia, to South Australia, nope, nothing here was right. Through Victoria there was a possibility, but we still weren't convinced. So it was up to north New South Wales for a look there - anything we did like was either too expensive, too small, too remote - too......not ticking the boxes as they say.

We decided back in November to have another look at a place we had liked in Victoria. An interesting place, three cottages, which we loved the look of as soon as we saw them, set on just over 14 acres - but the main house - well it didn't appeal at all. Nothing like we'd ever look at, I mean, nothing really wrong with it, it was perfectly serviceable, just not our style of house, but the cottages - magnificent. Anyway - long story short - we bought it.

And so the story continues .....

Colby Cottages is our new venture.
